'Otagai Project' is a has contributed to regional companies conducting business between ASEAN and Japan through specific business activities since 2011. Taishi Tsuji introduced about the project and its future vision.
The first ASEAN-Japan public-private sector dialogue on new industrial was held to celebrate both the 40th anniversary of friendship cooperation and the 20th anniversary of economic ministers meeting between ASEAN and Japan in Naypyidaw, Myanmer from August 25 to 26.
On the first day, the participants who were belong to both public and private sectors in ASEAN and Japan discussed how to advance their cooperation with each other through regional networks and business, especially about the feilds such as 'Environment and energy' 'Health care' and 'Contents' which Japan has strong advantages and can contribute, and on the second day, the result of the discussion was reported as the proposal at the dialogue, attended by ASEAN-Japan economic ministers.

Otagai Project started at the end of 2011. A Japanese word, 'Otagai' means 'each other' in English. When Thailand got the historical heavy floods, it was started for establishing strong supply chains and reliable back-up systems between Japan and Thailand.
It has been improved for recent a few years through the several pilot projects between Japan and ASEAN, in particular countries around the Mekong River basin.
'Otagai' project can support its realization based on permanently complementary relationship between ASEAN and Japan.
